Prof Dame Elan Closs Stephens has been appointed performing chair of the BBC, the federal government has introduced, after Richard Sharp resigned from the place following a report that discovered he breached the governance code for public appointments.
In April, Sharp stepped down as chair of the company after being discovered to have damaged the principles by failing to reveal he performed a job in getting the then prime minister, Boris Johnson, an £800,000 mortgage assure.
On Friday, the Division for Tradition, Media and Sport introduced Stephens would lead the BBC board from 27 June for 12 months, or till a brand new everlasting chair had been appointed, whichever was sooner.
Stephens has been a member of the BBC’s governing physique since 2010, first serving as member for Wales on the BBC Belief after which because the Welsh member of the BBC board.
