(Reuters) – U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg spoke on Sunday with the CEO of Delta Air Strains (NYSE:), following the provider’s cancellation of 1000’s of flights since Friday as a consequence of a widespread IT-systems outage and because it continued to attempt to restore operations, a division official advised Reuters.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian advised clients on Sunday that the provider had canceled 3,500 flights by way of Saturday. Flightaware mentioned Delta on Sunday had canceled one other 899 flights — or 24% of its schedule. Buttigieg throughout the name reminded Bastian of the airline’s duties to clients and the division’s enforcement position, the official added.
