On August 17, Ms. Velma Lois Jones was honored by Phi Lambda Omega Chapter members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. with a bench dedication and unveiling at LeMoyne-Owen School, WMC studies. The group pioneer was celebrated for her years of management, together with serving as the previous Alpha Kappa Alpha Worldwide Parliamentarian, the thirteenth South Jap Regional Director of the group, and the primary lady elected President of the NAACP Memphis Department.
Whereas on the LeMoyne-Owen Board of Trustees, Ms. Jones was named Parliamentarian after turning into the longest-serving Nationwide Alumni President within the group’s historical past. She was the primary African American trainer elected President of the Tennessee Schooling Affiliation.
