President Donald Trump is “weaponising” tariffs, a UK economist has warned.
The president signed two govt orders imposing a 25 per cent tariff on metal and aluminum imports on Monday (10 February), no matter origin, escalating the continued commerce struggle.
Stephanie Rickard, Professor of Political Science on the London College of Economics, advised the BBC that the rising uncertainty round commerce offers is making enterprise more difficult.
“It is harmful within the sense that it is producing uncertainty,” she stated, throughout an interview on Tuesday.
“We now not know if the US commerce agreements that they’ve signed and so they’ve complied with previously will proceed to rule the sport in terms of commerce.”
